Barry Sendel started his building supply company located in Toronto. This was established in response to the rampant union strike on ready mix cement as well as to service the massive construction boom in the late 1960s.

The history of Miron Cement is deeply rooted to a combination of strikes and initiative.  The company dates back to the years 1968 and 1969.  Barry Sendel started his building supply company located in Toronto. This was established in response to the rampant union strike on ready mix cement as well as to service the massive construction boom in the late 1960s.

Ready mix trucks were deployed to cement batching plants to several sites such as Cadillac Developments Greenwin Developments, Olympia York Developments etc.  By providing ready mix trucks with cement, Barry helped preventing a major cash flow problem for the developers, because at the moment of the strike, the buildings were in between the stages of drawing their mortgage money.  The company had prevented a major cash flow problem for the developers and reprieved builders from strikes.
