During the year of 1990 Barry Sendel had the privilege of helping an engineer in designing a unique fitness boot apparatus designed for skipping and jumping jack exercises. The boot an (ice-skate) design is mounted on two half-moon molded plastic made up of flexible polypropylene material. These two plastic half-moons are connected with a lightweight polypropylene material act as a spring between the two half-moon molded plastics.
This unique exerciser called “Experlopers”, with Sendel’s help, became a running shoe with a heat-sealed rubber molded to the bottom of the half-moon plastic preventing runners from slipping and wear and tear from running on pavement.
Barry Sendel also perfected the boot to a light weight polyethylene material to reduce the weight of the Experlopers. The Experlopers became well known to runners after Sendel finished a 26 mile and 385 yards international marathon in Montreal, Canada without any aches or pain in his back or knees. Most people do not realize, says Sendel, that when we run on concrete and/or asphalt your body weight becomes 10 times its weight on your spine and knees. The Experlopers prevents this type of pounding. Today the Experlopers are sold under the name of Kangaroo Shoes for fun and fitness.
